TRF Members Meeting: Minutes: 05/02/05
Recruit new members: Iromi
Recruit more members for the TRF. Send email to all existing members asking each person to recruit one new member. Ask each potential new member what skills and or experience they have.
Blog site: Add to members list each member’s individual skills. Check members e-mail addresses are correct. Person in charge Iromi.
Calendar Schedule: Dayani
Calendar of dates. Person in charge: Dayani. Responsible for transport, food and accommodation. Aim for three to four camp visits per month.
Fund raising/ Film screenings: Subha & Kalpika
Fund raising: People in charge Subha and Kalpika. Film screening, food and drinks day. Charging 50 Rupees entrance fee. Aim for two film screenings per month. Seating to be arranged on the floor. First screening scheduled for Saturday 13th February.
Projects:
Next project scheduled for Friday 11th February in Ahangama Habaraduwa in two pre-schools. TRF Group shall depart Colombo 5.00 am. Return by 1.00pm.
Things to think about for the project: ideas for musical instruments.
Organise a badge making day.
No more gifts to be given out. Perhaps just sweets and chocolates.
We need to be stricter with group changes. Whistle blown at each interval. Badge system should help team members know which group each child belongs to.
We need to ensure groups are mixed ages and sex.
Aim for second camp visit Sunday 20th February (SOS Village camp). Group depart 12 pm on the 19th February and return the following evening. Date still needs to be confirmed. Maximum 15 volunteers.
Aim for third camp visit to take place on the Wednesday 23rd (SOS Village camp). Depart Colombo afternoon on the 22nd February and return the following evening. Date still needs to be confirmed. Maximum 15 volunteers required.
TRF Need:
Contact companies and potential sponsors for more support with art materials i.e. A4 paper, sweets, crayons, chalks, clay and any other art materials suitable for children.
Try to get hold of various reading materials for children.
We need a host site. Research posting site prices. So far found deal for 1500 rupees per calendar month.
We need to make the Blog site more user friendly and interactive. Aim to make information more easily available for other NGO’s to access.
All TRF members need to learn how to update Blog.
Future TRF Fund raising projects:
Future project: Organise children’s Art Gallery. Aim to collect the children’s art and pick the most powerful and impacting for world wide exhibition and eventual auctioning.
Also put some of the best children’s art on the blog.
Record the children’s music sessions. Intention: to make an album of Tsunami children victims for eventual sale.
TRF members should make notes of children’s tsunami stories and write up stories on return to be put up on Blog.
Team members should try to obtain children’s contact details, names and addresses- so that we can send personal letters with photo’s back to children.
Rock Concert:
TRF Fund raising concert “ Livin’ on a prayer” Scheduled for 19th February to be held at the CR & FC Grounds from 7.00pm onwards. The bands playing comprise ‘Stigmata, Rattle Snake, Cancer, III Noize, Venom and other guests’. All profits from this concert will go into the work of TRF to help brighten the lives of the people affected by the devastation. Circulate information to as many people as possible.

All members are to take note and respect the new “Office Rules” which have been put up in the office.
